The Kansas City Chiefs named Burns & McDonnell as the owner’s representative for the team’s practice facility and headquarters project in Olathe.

Burns & McDonnell will team with CAA ICON to serve as the Chiefs’ advisor for the development of the new team facilities that support both business and football operations. The new Chiefs HQ and practice facilities will be located at the northwest corner of College Boulevard and Ridgeview Road, south of Kansas Highway 10, on approximately 155 acres.

“As a local, employee-owned firm with a track record of project success around the world, we know they have the right mix of local knowledge as well as global experience to help us navigate the upcoming design and construction phases of a truly unique year-round home for our football team and staff,” Matt Kenny, Chiefs executive vice president and chief operations officer, said in a Thursday release.

As part of the franchise’s move across state lines to Kansas, the team will construct a $300 million practice facility and headquarters in Olathe. In February, the Olathe City Council unanimously approved STAR bonds for the Olathe-based facilities.

The facility is set to open ahead of the 2031 football season.

The team said more announcements about the new practice facility and headquarters in Olathe are expected in the coming weeks.

Last month, the Chiefs unveiled an updated economic impact projection for their $4.5 billion stadium project in Kansas.
