Saint Luke’s is seeking to expand one of its Northland hospitals with a five-story expansion project.
The health system filed preliminary plans to build a six-story, 51,300-square-foot expansion to Saint Luke’s North Hospital. The hospital is located at 5830 NW Barry Rd, and the expansion project would be added to the southeast side of the building.
The project will also add a garage space south of the expansion. The number of parking stalls that will be added as part of the new garage is still being finalized, Saint Luke’s staff wrote in an email.
The Kansas City Plan Commission will review the project during its December 2 meeting. The plans are still subject to approval.
McClure Engineering Co. is the civil engineer, and Pulse Design Group is the architect for the project.
Saint Luke’s North Hospital currently has more than 160 patient beds and more than 20 specialized health care services. The hospital sits between the Barry Road and Smithville campuses. Saint Luke’s North features 24-hour emergency services, inpatient and outpatient diagnostic testing, a maternity unit, comprehensive rehabilitation services, and on-campus physician offices, according to the Saint Luke’s website.
Saint Luke’s officially merged with St. Louis-based BJC Healthcare in January 2024. The merger created a combined company worth nearly $15 billion.
