Overland Park-based Menorah Medical Center has named Valerie Newman chief operating officer.
Before joining Menorah Medical Center, Newman served as the COO of St. David’s Georgetown Hospital in Georgetown, Texas, for more than 1.5 years. During her tenure, she also played a key role in expanding cardiovascular, oncology and surgical services to improve access to care for patients and communities served by the hospital, according to a release shared with Ingram’s Magazine.
“Throughout my career, I have been passionate about supporting exceptional patient care, strengthening operations and investing in colleagues. I look forward to working alongside the talented physicians, nurses and healthcare professionals at Menorah Medical Center as we continue serving our community and advancing our mission,” Newman said in the release.
Newman also served as the Vice President of Operations at Dallas, Texas-based Medical City Healthcare for over 4 years, as an Administrative Resident at HCA Healthcare Florida Division in the greater Orlando area for over 1 year, and as a consultant for the department of anesthesiology at UF Health in Gainesville, Florida, according to her LinkedIn profile.
“Valerie brings a proven record of operational leadership, strategic growth and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care,” Sean Kamber, Menorah Medical Center CEO, said in the release. “Her experience leading complex healthcare operations and advancing service line development will be a tremendous asset to our hospital, our colleagues and the patients we serve.”
Newman earned a bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration from the University of Central Florida and a master’s degree in healthcare administration from the University of Florida.
Menorah Medical Center is part of HCA Midwest Health. In May, Independence-based Centerpoint Medical Center, another HCA Midwest Health hospital, announced it hired John Tyler as chief operating officer.
