Centerpoint Medical Center Hires John Tyler as COO

Independence-based hospital Centerpoint Medical Center announced it has hired John Tyler as chief operating officer.

Tyler began his new role at Centerpoint effective March 30, according to a release shared with Ingram’s. Additionally, this new appointment marks a return to the Kansas City region for the Lee’s Summit native.

He joins Centerpoint Medical Center from HCA HealthONE Swedish in Englewood, Colorado, where he served as vice president of operations. While at HCA HealthONE, Tyler oversaw a 504-bed Level I Trauma Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center and an ABA-Verified Burn Center.

Before his time at HCA Healthcare, Tyler served as director of operations at UCHealth Southern Colorado Region, running business operations for surgical services and hospital support services across four hospital campuses.

“Centerpoint Medical Center has always been a meaningful part of this community for me, as my family, friends and neighbors have trusted this hospital and its team with their care for years,” Tyler said in the release. “I’m honored to return home and serve alongside colleagues committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate care to the community that shaped me.”

Tyler earned a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Health Administration from Saint Louis University and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Loyola University Chicago.
