Overland Park-based Aria Care Partners reported a data security breach that may have contained personal health information including names and Social Security Numbers.
Aria became aware of the incident on its vision file server in May last year before launching an investigation. The incident review concluded in December when the company determined personal health information could have been involved. Aria provided notice to possible affected individuals on Jan. 19.
Possible data leaked includes protected health information such as names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, driver’s license numbers, medical treatment information, diagnosis information and health insurance information, according to a release.
The company said it has no evidence of any actual or suspected misuse of information involved in this incident.
To anyone who might have been impacted by the breach, Aria is offering identity protection services through IDX. The service includes a $1,000,000 identity theft insurance reimbursement policy, credit and dark web monitoring and identity theft recovery.
Including Aria, three health systems have been the target of cybersecurity attacks in the Kansas City area. North Kansas City Hospital informed its patients of a data breach in January and Liberty Hospital reported a cyber attack on its computer system in December.
