The Kansas City Chiefs and Hunt Midwest announced the launch of Two-Point Development, a joint real estate venture that will help develop the team’s next stadium and headquarters.
The Two-Point Development partnership will be the master developer for the design and development of both districts, according to a Monday release. The partnership will help establish new investment, jobs, and economic activity in Kansas City, Kansas and Olathe, home of the new stadium and headquarters districts, respectively.
“This partnership will create two dynamic districts, provide memorable experiences for residents and visitors, spur meaningful economic growth, and fundamentally transform the footprint of the Kansas City metro area,” Clark Hunt, Chairman and CEO of the Chiefs, said in the release. “We are proud of this joint venture and excited to get to work making this vision a reality.”
Two-Point Development name is inspired by Lamar Hunt’s —founder of the Chiefs and Hunt Midwest— innovative vision for including the exciting two-point conversion in professional football.
The partnership will work alongside local architectural firms to design the facilities and the surrounding areas. The Chiefs named Manica Architecture to design its new $3 billion stadium in Waynedotte County. The state-of-the-art stadium is expected to seat about 70,000 fans and include more than 20,000 parking spaces.
The Chiefs’ $300 million practice facility and headquarters in Olathe will be designed by Populous. Populous will also support the master plan design of the on-site mixed-use development, joining Burns & McDonnell on the project.
Construction for the practice facility and headquarters will be overseen by Burns & McDonnell, which was also named the owner’s representative for the project. Burns & McDonnell will work together with CAA ICON as the Chiefs’ advisor. The facility will be located at the northwest corner of College Boulevard and Ridgeview Road, south of Kansas Highway 10, on approximately 155 acres.
In an economic impact projection released in June, the team reported that $1.2 billion in private ancillary real estate developments will surround both projects.
All projects are anticipated to open their doors by 2031 in time for the football season.
