Where KS and MO Rank In Cancer Death Rates



The Kaiser Family Foundation compiled data from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention information and the cause of death files in the year 2021, here is where Kansas and Missouri rank.

Missouri just nudged its way into the top 16 slot with a total of 13,153 deaths, according to the data. The data also compies the amount of death in categories by sex. In Missouri, 6,980 deaths were male and the remaining 6,173, female.

Kansas ranked lower in the 33 slot with a total of 5,455. Male death totaled 2,878 while female deaths were 2,577.

According to the data, 32,127 more males died from cancer in the U.S. than females in 2021. Nearly 53 percent of the 605,213 total cancer deaths across the country were male.

For reference, California had the most cancer deaths in 2021, with a total of 59,503 — 30,834 males and 28,669 females. Alaska had the least at 1,093 — 466 males and 519 females.
