Westlake Ace Hardware announced it has signed an agreement to build a new store in the Monticello Shopping Center in Shawnee, Kansas.
The new Westlake Ace store will have approximately 12,500 square feet of retail space. It is located along Kansas Highway 7, near Shawnee Mission Parkway. While the opening date has not been determined, Westlake Ace expects it will likely be in late 2025 or early 2026, according to a release.
Plans to expand the Monticello Shopping Center were in October 2024. At the time, Westlake Ace proposed a single-story 15,500 square-foot building. Three new commercial buildings were planned for the expansion.

“We look forward to bringing a new shopping experience to our Shawnee-area customers and showcasing how we live the Ace Helpful Promise daily through reliable service, helpful advice, and the products our customers need to get their projects done right,” he said in the release.
Westlake Ace owns and operates 30 locations in the metro and a 29,944-square-foot fulfillment center for the retailer’s B2B sales division. the company currently owns and operates more than 170 stores in 13 states.
It most recently opened its third Lee’s Summit located at 3511 SW Market St. a year ago. It also opened new locations in Liberty, Olathe and Overland Park. Westlake Ace announced one of its Olathe stores would close its doors on March 1 and relocate, transferring all of its workforce.
The retailer has also engaged in several acquisitions. Most recently it purchased Augusta Ace Home Center in Augusta, Kansas, and the transaction deal is expected to officially close on March 17.
