Urban, suburban housing sales appear relatively even

Despite some regional trends showing people moving away from urban areas, in general numbers show that suburban housing markets have not strengthened at a disproportionately pace compared to urban housing markets.

Over the last few months, it would appear many individuals and families have left the urban living scene.

While the trend has rung true for certain areas of the U.S., by and large data shows that suburban housing markets have not strengthened at a disproportionately rapid pace compared to urban markets.

According to a Zillow report, homes in both urban and suburban regions look to be strong sellers, showing similar selling activity in recent months.

Regional differences supporting the idea behind a drastically higher performing suburban market have been that homes in that market have been spending less time on the market than southern urban.

However, urban homes in the Northeast reveal this to be the opposite, reports Zillow, saying that evidence suggests that some of these regional discrepancies might be attributed to supply-side constraints rather than any marked shifts in homebuyer demand.
