The Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City has approved a master plan amendment and request for a six-building data center near the Kansas Speedway.

Red Wolf DCD Properties LLC requested rezoning of around 550 acres located west of the Kansas Speedway. The UG approved two rezoning requests on Thursday. The six buildings will be divided into two sets of three, located on the north and south sides of Parallel Parkway between 115th and 118th streets.

Each building will be approximately 330,000 square feet, and the whole data center will consume around 600 megawatts of energy.

In April, Red Wolf DCD Properties LLC filed plans with the UG for the six-building data center campus. Then, the UG Planning Commission voted 4-2 to rezone the north and south sides of the development area in May.

Construction could start on the first building in 2026 and be completed by 2027. The entire campus is expected to take six years to complete.

Red Wolf will work with the Savannah, Georgia-based engineering firm Thomas & Hutton and the Leawood-based architecture and planning firm Bell/Knott & Associates for the project.
