The project “will address roadway and floodplain challenges, improve traffic flow, and enrich pedestrian and cyclist experiences while strongly focusing on sustainability and safety,” according to the City of Leawood’s website.

A new roundabout at Tomahawk Creek Parkway and Town Center Drive will work to improve traffic congestion and new bike lanes and sidewalk enhancements and trail connections will also be implemented.

The multi-use trail along the creek that runs from College Boulevard to 119th Street will be closed for approximately 8 weeks as a result of construction. Additionally, Tomahawk Creek Parkway will be fully closed beginning Wednesday, Feb. 12, and continue until August.

While construction is set to be fully complete by December 2025, the City of Leawood hopes to open the road to traffic by October.
