SelectQuote to begin hiring boost in region, nationwide

Overland Park-based online comparison shopping site, SelectQuote, said it plans to list thousands of full-time job openings in preparation for Medicare enrollment. The company said its senior division makes 70 percent of its new policy sales during the period. Most of the positions opening will be regional.

SelectQuote Inc. plans to hire thousands of associates to help its customers enroll in Medicare over the coming weeks and months.

The Overland Park-based insurance company SelectQuote helps consumers compare and select insurance plans from a variety of insurers. The company said its senior division generates about 70% of its new policy sales in the six months of the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period (Oct. 15-Dec. 7) and Open Enrollment Period (Jan. 1-March 31).

SelectQuote hired on roughly 2,000 employees to cover last year’s annual enrollment period.

“For the over 60 million adults who are currently eligible for Medicare, the annual enrollment period is an extremely important time for them to make sure they have the best plan for their unique healthcare needs,” SelectQuote CEO Tim Danker said in a news release. “Our carrier partners continue to build more and richer benefits into their Medicare Advantage offerings but the many choices presented to patients can also be confusing. So, our ability to recruit and train knowledgeable agents who are passionate about helping our clients is critical to our mission.”

The job openings are full time, though most start as temporary, seasonal employees. SelectQuote pays for a training period and aims to turn seasonal hires into year-round employees.

SelectQuote also wants to add people to help with business operations, auditing, payroll, compliance, marketing, data analysis, software engineering, onboarding, human resources, IT security and quality assurance. Most of the positions are in Overland Park, but there are opportunities for remote work and openings in Centennial, Colorado; Des Moines, Iowa; and Jacksonville, Florida.
