Seaboard Corp. names new CEO

The Kansas-based company has announced the appointment of Robert Steer as CEO and president, now the first CEO to assume the role outside of the Bresky family, while Ellen Bresky now holds her late husband’s position as chair of the board.

This summer, a shift in power has occurred at Seaboard Corporation following the July death of Steven Bresky, former president and CEO and the third generation of his family to lead Seaboard.

The company announced the promotion of Robert Steer as president and CEO, who has been with Seaboard for over 35 years and previously served as CFO.

Ellen Bresky, widow of Steven Bresky, has taken on a role in the company as well, appointed as a director and chairperson of the board, filling the vacancy previously held by her late husband.

In his new role as president and CEO, Steer is the first person outside of the Bresky family to serve in the position of CEO.

Steer has served as executive vice president and CFO since April 2011, according to a press release from Seaboard, and will continue to serve as CFO until a successor has been appointed.
