Kansas City real estate agency Maxus Properties, Inc. is suggesting an addition to the River Market apartment scene, proposing a $45 million high-rise at the corner of Oak and Third streets. Plans detail the construction of 11 stories with 235 units, including two levels of parking.

North Kansas City real estate agency Maxus Properties Inc. is proposing a $45 million project that would deliver more apartments to the River Market area.

Construction plans include 11 stories with 235 apartments, two of the stories to house parking space for residents.

If approved, the high-rise would be built at the corner of Oak and Third streets and be comprised of a mix of studio unit as well as one-and-two-bedroom units ranging from 600 to 2,000 square feet.

Maxus’ suggested name for the complex is Defeo and hopes to meet with the city regarding the project sometime later in March. The real estate company has already expressed plans to request incentives for the project.

Owned by Maxus since 2013, if development is approved and followed through, the property would add to 13 other apartment communities owned by the agency in the Kansas City area.
