Raymond James to Open Kansas City Location

With each new year comes new businesses to the region, and already this week, Raymond James announced that it is expanding to Kansas City. Located on Walnut St. in Downtown Kansas City, Greg Vahrenberg will be the managing director of the new public finance office.

Vahrenberg is no rookie to the field – he first spent five years with Mark Twain Bank, then made the transition to vice president of public finance for Country Club Bank in Kansas City, before serving as managing director of fixed income investment banking at Piper Jaffray & Co. for 20 years.

“I’m looking forward to establishing a Kansas City office, and helping Raymond James fulfill its strategic vision to be the best public finance platform in the country,”  Vahrenberg said in a statement from the company. “I’m excited to be a part of the firm’s continued Midwest expansion and look forward to bringing my years of experience in multiple advisory and underwriting roles, with a host of municipal bond clients, to bear in this market.”

And Vahrenberg’s resume will fit in well with Raymond James’ reputation – The company has one of the largest public finance practices in the country, with more than 170 professions and 31 national locations. “Greg’s extensive and varied public finance experience combined with Raymond James’ exceptional underwriting and distribution capabilities will be a tremendous advantage to our clients in need of unique and innovative financing solutions,” Gavin Murrey, executive vice president and head of Public Finance/Debt Investment Banking at Raymond James, said in the statement. “Adding Greg and opening our new Kansas City office, on the heels of our new Denver location which opened in September, demonstrates our continued commitment to building the leading public finance team in the U.S. as we continue to expand our footprint in the Midwest and mountain states.”
