Railcar Repair Service Picks Overland Park

GBW Railcar Services, an Oregon based company that provides freight care repair and other services, announced today that it will open an office in Overland Park, tapping into the Kansas City region’s growing logistics sector.

A joint venture between Pittsburg-based Watco and Greenbrier, of Lake Oswego, Ore., the company says it will add 20 to 30 jobs in this region the next year.

In a news release from the city, GBW’s chief financial officer, Cheryl Balkenhol, said “Overland Park was identified as a place where people we want to attract to our company like to work. That made it an obvious choice. We already have 22 team members in our beautiful new offices though some of these team members had already worked in the area for Watco Companies,  one of our parent companies.”

GBW, nation’s largest independent railcar repair network, has more than  2,100 employees, and says it will expand to other tank car services and repairs.
