Preliminary plan filed for River Market high-rise

A multifamily apartment project from Maxus Properties Inc. has submitted development plans and is scheduled to go before the City Plan Commission June 1. Given the name Defeo, the proposed project at Oak and Third streets is estimated to cost $56.8 million.

Maxus Properties has filed a preliminary plan for multifamily project Defeo. Plans set projected costs at $56.8 million for the 11-story River Market high-rise Oak and Third streets.

A preliminary plan filed Friday indicates that the development will house 226 apartments in nine stories above a two-story concrete parking podium with 180 spaces. The City Plan Commission is scheduled to review the project on June 1.

The development is among at least 15 project applications recently filed with the EDC before April 8, so they will not have to meet Kansas City’s new affordable housing requirements for incentive-seeking multifamily proposals.
