OptumRx Holding Job Fair in Overland Park, Seeking to Hire 135

OptumRx, a UnitedHealth Group pharmacy care services organization, is looking to hire a combined 135 pharmacy technicians and customer service representatives today and tomorrow at a job fair in Overland Park. All new positions will be based at Optum’s Overland Park office.

According to a release from UnitedHealth Group, “the new positions will support the needs of a growing member and client base, and continue delivering excellent health care experiences to the consumers OptumRx serves.”

The pharmacy technicians are required a year or more of pharmacy related experience and pharmacy technician registration in the state of Kansas, while customer service representatives should boast at least a high school diploma, a GED or equivalent work experience.

In May, a study by the global healthcare staffing consultancy Mercer found that the US needs to hire 2.3 million health care workers by 2025 in order to sufficiently care for the aging population. Alysia Heller, director of fulfillment operations for OptumRX, says that there are a number of ways the health care industry can support the workforce in order to retain employment and ensure patients are cared for.

“Examples are investing in employees, putting adequate time and energy into proper training, offering career development resources, tools, and the autonomy to empower employees to drive result,” Heller said. “Additionally, it’s critical that we’re recognizing the contributions of our employees, and ensuring they feel valued for the work that they are doing.”
