New ownership will reopen Tiffany & Co. Plaza location



The high-end jeweler will retain its spot on the Country Club Plaza thanks to its new Paris-based owner, back-pedaling on an announcement that the location would permanently close. Tiffany & Co.’s Plaza store is the only one in Kansas City and opened in 2004.

News of Tiffany & Co.’s permanent closure of its location on the County Club Plaza has been reversed.

On Jan. 7, 2021, Paris-based LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE acquired Tiffany & Co. for $15.8 billion, stepping in as its new owner.

The jewelry retailer’s only Kansas City store, a 5,400-square-foot location that opened in 2004 at 301 Nichols Road, was already was set to close prior to the acquisition.

Now, with new ownership and new management, the company reviewed the decision and opted to re-enter the Kansas City market, planning to reopen the Plaza location.

Tiffany & Co.’s new owners intend to reopen the Kansas City location in March.
