Overland Park-based Netsmart launched its new artificial intelligence data lab in an effort to develop new AI products for clients and increase clinician satisfaction.

The Netsmart AI Data Lab, built on Amazon Web Services, is currently in its early phase at Netsmart which includes a fully AI-enabled digital assistant that can summarize and help identify gaps in care and screening and suggest recommendations and actions in near real-time at the point of care, according to a release.

In collaboration with this AI Data Lab initiative, Netsmart is working with The Missouri Behavioral Health Council to develop a technology that uses machine learning powered by AWS to access data from multiple sources, such as electronic health records and claims data, for near real-time analytics.

“We believe equipping providers with AI technology is the future of actionable, predictive analytics within the healthcare ecosystem,” Netsmart CEO Mike Valentine said. “MBHC is at the forefront of the industry, and we’re thrilled to be working with them on effectively taking their predictive analytics and wiring it into their population health and provision of care functions, empowering staff to make real-time decisions based on the broad data set available.”
