Zona Rosa rolls dice on redevelopment project

Malls and outdoor shopping centers similar to Zona Rosa faced economic struggle prior to COVID-19, and now developers are taking a chance on the Northland property, the Zona Rosa shopping center to undergo redevelopment this fall to create more open area and make space for new amenities.

This fall, the Northland area Zona Rosa outdoor shopping center will undergo several changes in a multi-million dollar redevelopment project set to begin over the next few months.

Changes to be made include the demolishment of a building near Dillard’s, in part to make room for more green space.

Other changes aside from new outdoor green space include a new stage, outdoor seating, a splash park and public art

“Our goal is to make Zona Rosa the central hub of the Northland by creating an amenity rich environment to enhance the overall experience for our customers, tenants and community that goes beyond what a traditional shopping center offers,” Scott Zigler, Zona Rosa’s general manager, said in a news release.

While the shopping center undergoes changes by developer Trademark Property Company, shoppers can expect to return to a new, finished Zona Rosa by spring 2021.
