Metro tech startup brings in 400 percent revenue growth



Overland Park-based technology platform company Replica saw some of the largest revenue growth in the region in 2020, bringing in around 400 percent growth in revenue. High-growth tech companies like Replica have seen increased growth in KC, a trend that is expected to continue.

Enterprise data platform startup Replica saw a boom in revenue growth last year. In 2020, the Overland Park-based company brought in around 400 percent in revenue growth.

Replica is a next-generation urban planning tool that can help cities answer key transportation questions. It delivers critical insights about the built environment including people, mobility, economic activity and land use.

A product derived from American multinational conglomerate Alphabet Inc., Replica has grown from 13 employees in September 2019 to 45.

The Overland Park-based tech startup that spun out of Google parent Alphabet Inc. is capturing explosive growth.

The number of high-growth tech companies in the Kansas City area has grown over the last decade, a trend expected to continue.

Replica’s customer base includes states, cities, counties and regional planning agencies throughout the U.S., such as the Kansas Department of Transportation and the cities of Kansas City and Olathe.

Especially over the last several months, cities have used Replica’s data to determine the best time to close transit lines for cleaning or reopen them for essential employees.

Federal laboratories also used some of Replica’s mobility data and insights to inform their disease transmission models.

Currently, the city of New York is using Replica to help it understand the impact of creating congestion pricing.

Replica’s CEO, Nick Bowden, expects the company will double in revenue and employees in 2021.
