Merger approved for Kansas City-based Northern Genesis, vehicle manufacturer Lion Electric Co.



Stockholders of Northern Genesis Acquisition Corp. have approved a previously announced merger plan with Montreal-based electric vehicle maker, The Lion Electric Co. Northern Genesis was founded in Kansas City, Mo. and operates as a special purpose acquisition company.

Northern Genesis Acquisition Corp. announced that its stockholders have approved a merger with The Lion Electric Co.

Montreal-based Lion Electric, a maker of electric buses and vehicles, has been working since November 2020 on a merger with Northern Genesis.

Northern Genesis is a special purpose acquisition company formed last year in Kansas City, Mo., and is led by Chairman Christopher Jarratt. Jarratt also serves as executive vice chairman of Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp.

The same organizers also have taken two other SPACs to market: Northern Genesis Acquisition Corp. II and Northern Genesis Acquisition Corp. III.

Parent Northern Genesis Acquisition Corp. also has two other SPACs: Northern Genesis Acquisition Corp. II and Northern Genesis Acquisition Corp. III.
