Menorah Medical Center Names Dr. Rodney Buzzas Chief Medical Officer

Overland Park-based Menorah Medical Center has named Rodney Buzzas the next chief medical officer.

Buzzas joins Menorah from St. Rose Dominican Hospitals in Henderson, Nevada, where he served as chief medical officer and designated institutional official. While at St. Rose, he played a part in helping the hospital achieve a Level II designation for emergency and trauma services, which led to a neurosciences service line and new graduate medical education programs.

Before his time at St. Rose, Buzzas served as chief medical officer at Canyon Vista Medical Center in Sierra Vista, Arizona. He also held physician leadership positions with St. Charles Health System in Bend, Oregon, where he oversaw clinical quality, physician relations, medical staff operations, clinical documentation improvement and multispecialty physician group leadership, according to a release shared with Ingram’s.

“Dr. Buzzas is a collaborative physician leader with a proven ability to partner with physicians, nurses and operational leaders to improve care delivery and performance,” Sean Kamber, CEO of Menorah Medical Center, said in the release. “His experience leading medical staff engagement and building strong physician partnerships will strengthen our efforts to continue advancing patient care for our community.”

Buzzas earned his bachelor’s in biology and a master’s in molecular biology from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. He received his medical degree from Creighton University School of Medicine and completed his general surgery residency at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Wichita. He also holds a master’s degree in healthcare quality and patient safety management from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia.
