Mayor Lucas Asks Jackson County for K.C. CARES Funds

Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas is asking for $54.5 million in CARES Act funding from Jackson County officials for the city.

The request comes after the county was allocated $123 million and is based on the percentage of Kansas City residents living in the county.

KC has not received any funding yet because it is only intended for cities with populations of 500,000 or more an, it falls just under that threshold.

“Kansas City believes this proposal to represent a fair and detailed schedule of spending to support our City’s recovery under COVID-19 and is based on U.S. Treasury guidelines for spending,” Lucas said  in his presentation.
