Longtime KC-area home building company acquired

Among Ingram’s list of Top Home Builders in 2022, Lambie Custom Homes has been acquired by an Atlanta holding company. Operating in the metro for over 40 years, the business will now go by Lambie Grand, LLC, dba Lambie Homes.

Overland Park-based Lambie Custom Homes is taking on a new, slightly altered name: Lambie Grand, LLC, dba Lambie Homes.

The change was announced after its acquisition by Grand Oak Builders, a holding company based in Atlanta, Ga.

Operating under President Jim Lambie, the company has been in business for roughly 44 years, earning recognition through the years in the residential market space. Under its new name, the company will continue to be managed by Jim Lambie.

“Grand Oak has given me the opportunity to stay involved in daily management,” Lambie said in a news release announcing the acquisition. “I really enjoy all aspects of the business, including land management. I think we have a great future in front of us, and I am excited to help guide the new team into the future.”

In the same release, Grand Oak Builders President and CEO, Dave Erickson, expressed looking forward to working with Lambie. “The Lambie team is looking forward to building upon the distinctive Jim Lambie name and history in the Kansas City region, and we’re excited about the prospect of expanding both the variety and increased volume of homes that Lambie Homes can deliver to home buyers throughout the Kansas City region.”
