Lenexa Logistics Centre could see second Amazon facility



Now with five other operating facilities in the Kansas City market outside of Lenexa, Amazon hopes to add a second facility in the industrial park, final plans for the new facility currently undergoing building permit review.

In an effort to increase operations in Kansas City, Amazon.com Inc. hopes to soon add a second facility to an existing one located in Lenexa Logistics Centre.

Outside of the Lenexa industrial park, Amazon has fulfillment center operations in five other Kansas City locations.

These locations found in the metro are in Kansas City, Kan., Kansas City, Mo., Edgerton, Gardner and Shawnee.

The smallest of these takes up 80,000 square feet while the largest takes up 856,000 square feet.

Earlier this month, the Lenexa Planning Commission approved a final plat for a 142,776-square-foot Amazon delivery station within Lenexa Logistics Centre North. Included in the company’s plans are 984 parking spaces on 29.9 acres.

A final plan for Amazon’s new facility was approved by city staff is currently undergoing building permit review.
