KU Health Recognized in America’s Best Hospitals For 15 Years Straight

The University of Kansas Hospital has been recognized as one of Healthgrades America’s Best Hospitals and among a handful of hospitals to achieve the recognition 15 years consecutively.

Healthgrades released its “America’s Best Hospitals” awards on Jan. 23, featuring America’s best 50, 100 and 250 hospitals. The top 250 hospitals represent the top 5 percent of the nation.

Nine hospitals have been named among Healthgrades’ best for at least 15 consecutive years, Becker’s Hospital Review reported. KU Health was awarded its 15th year for superior clinical performance in Healthgrades’ 2024 list.

The nine hospitals that have been awarded for at least 15 consecutive years include:

  • Mayo Clinic Hospital (Phoenix): 22 years
  • Lancaster (Pennsylvania) General Hospital: 22 years
  • Ascension Alexian Brothers (Elk Grove Village, Ill.): 21 years
  • Ascension Providence Hospital, Southfield (Michigan): 19 years
  • Beaumont Hospital, Troy (Michigan): 19 years
  • Bethesda North Hospital (Cincinnati): 18 years
  • Mills-Peninsula Medical Center (Burlingame, Calif.): 17 years
  • Houston Methodist Hospital: 16 years
  • University of Kansas Hospital (Kansas City): 15 years

Healthgrades uses Medicare data from 2020-22 to evaluate clinical performance for 4,500 hospitals across more than 30 common procedures and conditions, including heart attack, pneumonia and sepsis.
