KS, MO Cities Featured in Healthiest and Unhealthiest Cities in America



WalletHub's latest rankings for healthiest place to live in the U.S. features five cities from the bi-state region.

A ranking of the healthiest places to live in the U.S. by WalletHub.com has placed several Kansas and Missouri cities in the running — with one city achieving the highest rank in healthcare for the entire nation.

WalletHub’s 2024 Healthiest & Unhealthiest Cities in America compared 182 of the most populated U.S. cities across four key dimensions lincuding healthcare, food, fitness and green space. The dimensions defined using 41 indicators that would evaluate a score on a 100 point scale, with 100 representing the most favorable conditions.

Missouri cities on the list were St. Louis with an overall rank at No. 36, Springfield at No. 111 and Kansas City at No. 114.

Kansas cities on the list include Overland Park at No. 38 and Wichita at No. 162.

More key findings:

  • Overland Park placed 1st in healthcare.
  • St. Louis held the highest overall rankings out of all Missouri and Kansas cities featured on the list.
  • St. Louis, MO; Augusta, GA; Charleston, WV; Huntington, WV and Baltimore, MD all tied for highest premature death rate.
  • St. Louis placed second for lowest cost of a medical visit. KCMO and Overland Park tied for 4th lowest.
  • Wichita has the least dietitians and nutritionists per capita, placing at 178th.
