KC labor market report reveals healthcare as largest industry

A Missouri Real-Time Labor Market summary shows an analysis of current job demand based on online job postings from October to December 2020, revealing healthcare as the largest industry in the Kansas City region, followed by retail.

A three-month labor market summary for the Kansas City region posted by the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center displays data collected between October 2020 and December 2020 on regional employers, industries, full-time jobs and more.

Over the three-month timespan, the five-county region which includes Jackson, Cass, Clay, Platte and Ray counties had 40,072 job postings.

There were 74 percent permanent full-time jobs, the city of Kansas City, Mo. showing the most job postings in the regional report.

Industries were also ranked by percentage, healthcare and social assistance dominating as the largest industry in the regional at 26 percent. This was followed by retail trade at 13 percent.

Of the top 10 employers listed, the top three were Saint Luke’s Health System, Hospital Corporation of America and Truman Medical Centers.
