A new view of Kansas City will debut this fall in the form of the KC Wheel, a 150-foot Ferris wheel in the Pennway Point entertainment district.

The developers, Maryland-based ICON Experiences, will continue construction of the KC Wheel this week on the 6-acre site located east of Interstate 35 in the Crossroads Art District.

The KC Wheel will feature 36 enclosed climate-controlled gondolas and a special VIP gondola. Furthermore, the attraction is planned to operate year-round.

“From our first visit, the Kansas City community has been overwhelmingly welcoming,” ICON CEO and managing partner Eli Stovall said Monday. “There is too much to love here. From food and music to sports and commerce, Kansas City is winning.”

The KC Wheel will operate over Pennway Putt, a new mini golf course also planned for development in the entertainment district, and the Wheel House restaurant.

Construction of the KC Wheel is set to be completed this fall, according to the developers.
