The Kansas City Current Stadium will be using AI technology to screen guests at the gates of the stadium when the 2024 season begins.

The CPKC Stadium, which has a capacity of 11,500 patrons, will feature AI security technology in the form of the SmartGateway System developed by Toronto-based Xtract One Technologies.

The gateways will scan entering fans for guns, knives, and other prohibited items as they enter the venue, using AI-powered sensors to detect threats without invading patrons’ sense of privacy and comfort, according to the company.

“KC Current is all about elevating the community and inspiring bold ambition. We’re constantly pushing to raise the bar for our players, our fans, and our community,” Kansas City Current vice president of facility development, Scott Jenkins said. “We’re thrilled to be partnering with Xtract One to set new standards in fan safety and enjoyment, elevating our game day experience to new heights in a new stadium.”

The SmartGateway system will be deployed at all entrances of the stadium when it officially opens.
