The Civic Council of Greater Kansas City announced Paul Holewinski, president and chief executive officer of Academy Bank, has been elected Chair.
Holewinski succeeds Lisa Krigsten, who served as Chair for the past two years and will continue serving the Civic Council as immediate past Chair and leader of its Membership and Nominating Committee. Krigsten is a Dentons US Board Member, a position she has held since 2013.
“This is an important moment for Kansas City, we have a lot of momentum as a region, and I look forward to working alongside our members and regional partners to focus our collective leadership, expertise and resources on the growth opportunities that can strengthen our competitiveness, expand prosperity and improve quality of life across the region,” Holewinski said in a release.
During Krigsten’s tenure, the organization launched the region’s Investment Playbook, which included KC BioHub and the Critical Materials Crossroads Engine to advance regional biomanufacturing and supply chains of critical materials. KC BioHub was awarded $38.1 million to fund five projects designed to strengthen the region’s biomanufacturing ecosystem. The National Science Foundation announced UMKC will lead the Critical Materials Crossroads initiative.
Most recently, Holewinski has served as the Vice Chair for the Civic Council. He has also helped lead Civic Council initiatives such as Kansas City Tomorrow, a program aimed at developing the next generation of civic-minded leaders.
He currently serves as the president and CEO of the bank holding company Dickinson Financial and its banks, Academy Bank and Armed Forces Bank.
