Kansas City area receives N95 masks from federal program

Pharmacies and grocery chains across the metro and beyond are handing out N95 masks as a federal free mask program kicks off Wednesday. The program is part of President Joe Biden’s initiative to slow the spread of Omicron.

Those in Kansas and Missouri can start receiving their free N95 masks today as the program plans to distribute 400 million face coverings to pharmacies and grocery stores across the country.

Each person is able to receive three free masks, along with a flyer giving information on how to properly put on and take off an N95 mask.

The Kansas City metro is seeing an average of 245 new COVID hospitalizations per day, according to Tuesday data from the Mid-America Regional Council.
