Kansas City to Break Ground on MLK Pedestrian Bridge

Kansas City leaders will break ground on will break ground this Wednesday on the MLK Park pedestrian bridge across Brush Creek.

Mayor Quinton Lucas and U.S. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver will join City officials and Parks leadership for the ceremony that will take place at 4651 Woodland Ave. at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Cleaver has secured $2.8 million in Community Project Funding for the project, according to Kansas City Parks and Recreation.

Once complete, the bridge will connect the north and south banks of Brush Creek and allow pedestrians to safely reach the playground in MLK Park.

The arch bridge’s design consists of a 220-foot length, 14 feet wide, and 32 feet tall. The arch of the bridge, as well as its linear base, will feature LED lighting.
