The City of Kansas City, Missouri, has named Brenton Siverly as its new Deputy Director of Finance and will lead the Kansas City budget and revenue divisions.
Siverly officially took on his new role on June 23. Under his new role, Siverly will be responsible for guiding the City’s annual budgeting process, according to a release. He will also oversee tax collection and administration, as well as help shape the financial strategies that support Kansas City’s priorities and investments.

He most recently served as Director of Finance for the Schools of Nursing and Health Professions at the University of Kansas Medical Center. His prior roles include Assistant Budget Director for the State of Missouri, where he helped oversee a $35 billion budget, and Deputy Budget Director for the City of Chicago.
Siverly earned his Bachelor of Science and MBA from Missouri State University.
In addition to announcing Siverly’s appointment, the City also announced a realignment to its Finance Department’s structure. Now, the budget and revenue divisions will report directly to the Deputy Director to allow for better coordination and long-term planning. A new Budget Manager position will also be created to oversee daily operations, according to the release.
“Brenton brings the experience and perspective needed to lead one of the City’s most important functions—our budget,” City Manager Mario Vasquez — who was appointed to the role in May — said in the release. “He has the type of commitment and enthusiasm for public service that will help us align resources, support departments, and deliver for residents across Kansas City.”
