Kansas City, Kan. General Motors plant to fill new open positions

By Madison Parry

The General Motors Fairfax Assembly Plant is adding to the metro’s job market, the company looking to hire 70 workers by opening skilled trade and part-time positions with the possibility of the latter becoming full-time positions.

General Motors has openings for 10 skilled trade workers and 60 part-time temporary workers at the Fairfax Assembly Plant.

The plant produces the Chevrolet Malibu and the Cadillac XT4, making about 800 cars per day.

The openings for skilled trades include pipefitters and millwrights.

No experience is required for the part-time temporary positions, which would pay $16.67 per hour and work with the general assembly, like the trim department.

“Bottom line is we can teach you everything you need to know,” plant executive director Steve Notar Donato said.

While there is no guarantee the part-time temporary jobs would ever become permanent or full time, workers would be eligible for holiday and health care benefits.
