The Kansas State University Olathe campus adds Jonathan McPherson as director of advanced manufacturing research and training.
As director, McPherson will work with the executive director of strategic initiatives and others on campus to support the development of advanced manufacturing training by offering industry-focused short courses, according to a release. Each course includes classroom time, as well as industry tours through active factories.
Additionally, McPherson will also develop and manage an applied research program to solve industry problems, both in the greater Kansas City region and nationally. The Kansas City area already has over 190,000 manufacturing and logistics workers and more are needed to meet growth projections, according to the release.
Prior to joining K-State Olathe, McPherson was an account executive at Schenck Process LLC in Kansas City, where he served for over 10 years.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering technology from Pittsburg State University.
