June Jobs Report Shows One Industry Lagging

The Missouri Department of Economic Development released their June 2018 jobs report today and it indicated a potential issue for construction.  They note that since June of 2017, construction is the only industry showing a significant decrease in jobs, to the tune of 1,900 fewer jobs than the year before. We have calls and emails in to the department to get a more detailed breakdown of the report.

The sectors showing the most growth, according to the report, were “health care and social assistance (+10,400); administrative, support, and waste management services (+6,900); and arts, entertainment, and recreation (+5,500).”

The Kansas June 2018 jobs report is set to be released this Friday at 9 a.m.  We also have calls in to the Kansas Department of Labor to see if the construction industry has seen a similar decline.
