The Kansas City metro is expected to receive 10,000 doses of the recently-approved Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine. Different from Moderna and Pzfizer’s version, the latest vaccine requires only one dose with no return visits.

The third and latest COVID-19 vaccine to gain FDA approval is rolling out across the U.S. this week, the first doses expected to arrive in Kansas City tomorrow on Wednesday, March 2.

Kansas City will receive 10,000 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine and reportedly far improved from Moderna and Pzfizer’s versions.

Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine is a single-dose shot, requiring no return visit or second dose to be effective.

It also has fewer manufacturing and storage requirements compared to the previous two vaccines. In terms of how it directly affects those who get the shot, it is also said to have less side effects, such as muscle aches.
