JCCC Names Dr. Tony Miksa as its 7th President



Dr. Tony Miksa has been selected to serve as Johnson County Community College’s next President.

Johnson County Community College has selected Dr. Tony Miksa as the school’s next president following a nationwide search that began last year.

The College’s Board of Trustees unanimously approved Miksa at a March 13 board meeting. He will assume the role of the 7th prescient of the school effective July 1, according to a release.

Miksa succeeds Andy Bowne who announced his resignation in January 2024 following 3.5 years in the role. The JCCC Board of Trustees appointed Dr. Judy Korb as interim president shortly after Bowne’s departure.

With over 20 years of higher education experience, Miksa currently serves as the president of Walters State Community College in Morristown, Tennessee. He has been with Walters State since 2016.

Before that, he served as vice president of academic and student affairs at McHenry County College in Illinois for 7 years. He served as the dean of math science engineering and health professions at Elgin Community College for over 3 years as well as the dean of math education science and health professionals at Kishwaukee College for over 5 years.

Miksa holds a Doctor of Education, Community College Leadership from National Louis University, a Master of Arts in Mathematics from the University of Northern Iowa, a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Mount Mercy College and an Associate of Arts in Mathematics from Kishwaukee College.

JCCC conducted a nationwide search for its next president in collaboration with consulting firm, Academic Search. An 11-member Presidential Search Committee was also established to aid in the search.
