Overland Park-based Netsmart Technologies Inc. has acquired North Carolina software-as-a-service company, Geriatric Practice Management Corp. The integration of GPM’s platform is expected to enhance digitized workflows for providers and bridge communication gaps.

Locally-headquartered Netsmart Technologies Inc. has acquired Geriatric Practice Management Corp. (GPM) out of North Carolina.

GPM is a software-as-a-service technology and services company, primarily focused on the support of the long-term/post-acute care (LTPAC) community. In short, GPM’s electronic health record platform is tailored to the needs of LTPAC providers.

Netsmart itself is a leading provider of software-as-a-service technology and services solutions as well, and designs, builds and delivers electronic health records (EHRs), health information exchanges (HIEs), analytics and telehealth solutions.

GPM’s technology complements Netsmart’s CareFabric platform, which enables interoperable data sharing between long-term care facilities and providers.

With the acquisition, Netsmart plans to integrate GPM’s technology with CareFabric, which can lead to improved patient outcomes and better population insights, according to a Wednesday news release.

This is Netsmart’s first acquisition since October 2020, when the Overland Park-based company had acquired health tech company Tellus.

Systemwide, Netsmart employs around 2,200 and reported $462 million in revenue in 2019.
