HCA Midwest Appoints John McDonald as Centerpoint Medical Center CEO

Centerpoint Medical Center appointed John McDonald as its new chief executive officer, who previously served as CEO of another HCA Midwest Health hospital.

McDonald has been CEO of Centerpoint Medical Center since January 2024, according to HCA Midwest’s website. Before leading Centerpoint Medical Center, he served as CEO at Lee’s Summit Medical Center, another hospital a part of the HCA Midwest system, for five years.

Under McDonald’s leadership at Lee’s Summit Medical Center, he helped launch initiatives such as the hospital’s orthopedic spine and neurosurgery service lines and facilitated a new joint-venture surgery center currently under development.

Before joining HCA Midwest Health, he served as chief operating officer at Corpus Christi Medical Center in Corpus Christi, Texas for three years and was a part of several leadership roles for hospitals in Amarillo and Houston, Texas.

McDonald earned a bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences from Texas A&M University and an MBA from the University of Houston.
