Grocery Cooperative Merger Completed

Associated Wholesale Grocers, (AWG), has announced that its merger with Affiliated Foods Midwest (AFM), ratified by an AFM shareholders vote in September, has been successfully completed. First shipments to stores out of its newest divisions in Norfolk, Nebraska and Kenosha, Wisconsin happened on Sunday, October 23^rd.

The combination of AFM with AWG and its non-grocery subsidiary, Valu Merchandisers Company, is expected to bring annualized wholesale sales of approximately $10 billion on a consolidated basis.
