Free Webinar on COVID-19 Hiring Guidelines

Free Webinar on COVID-19 Hiring  Guidelines

Employers looking to hire quickly during the current COVID-19 pandemic will need to pay attention to special guidelines coming from federal regulators. To help them navigate those rules, an Overland Park law firm has scheduled a series of free webinars that will address rules applying to every person hired in the U.S.

Mira Mdivani

Immigration-law specialist Mira Mdivani, who also serves as president of the Kansas Bar Association, will lead the sessions for the Corporate Immigration Compliance Institute. Last week’s first webinar produced heavy demand from employers seeking guidance, the firm says, with construction, health care, manufacturing and finance leading the inquiries.
Mdivani had asked for permission from the Department of Homeland Security for clients to hire from home but had been denied. The webinars were scheduled after DHS switched gears to announce that I-9 employment verification documents now can be accepted by email, fax or video during the pandemic.
“Many employers are working from home and, in the past several days, several of our biggest clients told us they were going to stop hiring because they weren’t going to risk their lives,” Mdvani said. “This has the potential to save lives and enable the economy to be more productive.”
The new rules also allow human resource professionals working from home to hire both people working from home and for essential businesses.
In addition to covering how to comply with the new rules regarding the examination of potential employees’ verification documents, the webinars will outline legal and practical issues related to hiring and onboarding during the pandemic.
The next webinar is scheduled for this Friday. To register, email your name and company name to evan.robinson@usimmigrationcompliance.com for log-in instructions.
