Fortune: McCownGordon Ranked as Best Mid-Sized Company to Work For



Fortune has released its rankings of the top 100 Best Medium Size Companies to Work for. Coming in at number 19 is Kansas City-based McCownGordon Construction. This recognition spotlights a company that others can take a lesson from in regards to the culture fostered by executives and employees alike – It highlights the importance, and benefit, of creating an environment where individuals feel valued.  

“As a 100 percent employee-owned organization, our employees know they have a voice in our organization and a direct impact on our success. We place a heavy focus on creating a great working environment because we understand that associates who feel valued, appreciated and respected flourish and provide better service for our clients,” Ramin Cherafat, chief executive officer, said in a statement. “This recognition confirms our commitment to creating the best building experience for our associates, clients, partners and the community is working, and we’re honored to be listed with some of the nation’s most admired firms.”

Although McCownGordon was the only Missouri company ranked, Excel of Topeka came in at number 54. To determine its rankings, Fortune measured companies on executive team effectiveness, innovation and people focused programs. Additionally, the publication evaluated the company leaders, support of personal and professional lives and employees’ relationships with their colleagues.
