Evergy, Inc. Appoints W. Bryan Buckler as EVP and CFO

Kansas City-based Evergy, Inc. has named W. Bryan Buckler as the company’s new executive vice president and chief financial officer.

Buckler will assume his new role effective October 1, 2024, according to a release. He will oversee corporate finance functions such as treasury, accounting, planning, tax, internal audit, capital allocation and investor relations.

Before joining Evergy, Buckler served as chief financial officer for Oklahoma City-based OGE Energy Corp. since January 2021. For over 14 years, Buckler also worked for Charlotte, NC-based Duke Energy Corporation where he served in various finance leadership roles, most recently as vice president of investor relations.

Buckler will succeed Geoff Ley. Ley will continue to serve as Evergy’s acting chief financial officer until September 30 and will retain his role as treasurer and vice president of corporate planning.
