DAMAC Digital Solutions Kansas, LLC is seeking approval to repurpose an existing warehouse building into a $860 million data center in Edgerton.

The Heartland Data Center project would convert an existing building, located at 31800 W. 196th St., within the Logistics Park Kansas City, into a new data center. The 378,000-square-foot building was developed by NorthPoint Development and was completed in 2016.

The Edgerton Planning Commission is scheduled to review the final plans of the Heartland Data Center project during the Tuesday meeting at 7:00 p.m.

Improvements to the property include the addition of two new approximately 2,053-square-foot medium-voltage intake buildings as well as 60 diesel-powered backup generators on the east and west sides of the building. The generators will be built in 4 groups of 15.

The Heartland Data Center would create over 500 construction jobs during the building phase and create 15 to 30 permanent jobs when the development is complete, according to a slide deck presentation from DAMAC.

DAMAC says the data center will use a closed-loop cooling system and will require around 615,000 gallons of water for a one-time fill. The loop is filled once, and the water is recirculated using approximately 2,500 gallons a day.

DAMAC Digital is a subsidiary of Dubai-based DAMAC Group.

If Edgerton planners approve plans for the project, construction is expected to begin in summer 2026, with operations commencing in 2027, according to the Heartland Data Center website.
