Coping with COVID: KU Health System COVID-19 patient count drops to nearly half over weekend



The University of Kansas Health System saw a drop in the number of active COVID-19 patients. Health officials on Monday reported eight patients with the active virus remain, a drop from Friday’s count of 14. The system reports it now has a total of 17 COVID-19 patients, down from 27 on Friday.

Health officials reported a drop in the number of COVID-19 patients at The University of Kansas Health System on Monday.

Eight people with the active virus are being treated, down from 14 on Friday, April 16. Of those patients, six are in the ICU, up from three on Friday. Three of those patients are on ventilators, same as Friday.

Nine other patients are still hospitalized because of COVID-19 but are out of the acute infection phase, down from 13 Friday.

That’s a total of 17 patients, down from 27 Friday. HaysMed reports a total of four COVID-19 patients today, with three active and one in the recovery phase, same as Friday.
