Coping with COVID: Kansas and Missouri statewide case update

Daily new cases data remains largely unchanged in Kansas from the previous week though the daily new death count shows a drop, while data from Missouri’s COVID-19 dashboard remains somewhat skewed as the site continues to be worked on following a database error over the weekend.

On Monday, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment said the state has 67,862 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 771 deaths since the outbreak started. Kansas continues to update COVID-19 data on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services said on Sunday that 2,422 deaths have been attributed to COVID-19 in the state and there are 144,230 confirmed cases since the outbreak started.

Four days after a “database extract error” incorrectly showed a massive one-day increase in coronavirus cases in Missouri, the problem remains unresolved, a state health official said Tuesday.

Missouri’s COVID-19 dashboard is still being worked on and numbers have not been updated since Saturday. The latest updated showed there were more than 144,000 cases with more than 2,400 deaths in the Show-Me State.

Kansas health officials will update their numbers Wednesday after reporting almost 68,000 cases with 771 deaths since the pandemic started.
